Alberta "Berta" Huish Christensen was born June 24, 1900 in Spring Lake, Utah. She was the daughter of James William Huish and Mary Elizabeth Fillmore. She was educated in the schools of Utah and received her A.B. degree in English literature from Brigham Young University, where she was an honor student, active in dramatics, and editor of the literary magazine. She enjoyed writing and had her work published in the Relief Society Magazine as well as other publications.
