Betty G. Spencer was born July 12, 1925 in American Fork, Utah to Charles and La Rue Gaisford. She married Ralph H. Spencer. She was a successful journalist, photographer, author, editor, publicist, and poet. She worked for the Daily Herald and the American Citizen newspapers. Betty was a founding member of Utah Pageant of the Arts Board. She wrote a book about the history of American Fork titled "The Growing Years."
