Jim Abeita

Jimmy Abeita was born in Crownpoint, New Mexico on the Navajo reservation. As he grew up he would paint and draw on paper bags and scratched images into sandstone. He now paints the Navajo people in great accuracy and detail. Abeita paints things as he sees them. Abeita was the first Native American to master realism with oil paints. His paintings are now sought after by collectors and are shown in many museums. Abeita had his biography published and became an incredibly successful painter.

Graduated from high school in Salt Lake City through an Indian Placement Program. Jimmy Abeita continued his education studying painting at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Throughout his career Jimmy Abeita has been the recipient of many awards and has is work displayed in many places. His artwork is sought after by many collectors including Johnny Cash. Abeita has also had is biography published.
