John D. Engle Jr.

John Engle was born September 29, 1922, to John D. and Mary Combs Engle in Yocum, Kentucky. He was a writer with seven books of poetry as well as thousands of poems, articles and short stories appearing in countless periodicals and anthologies. For many years he was an editorial associate of Writer's Digest. As a teacher of creative writing in Ohio, he coached hundreds of beginning poets into print. In his syndicated column, Engle's Angle, he showcased the work of other writers over the years, giving many poets an opportunity for publication.
