Matia McClelland Burk

Matia McClelland Burk was born September 27, 1899 in Tombstone, Arizona, to John J. and Helen Ayres McClelland. She marrired F. Elmer Burk on May 17, 1924 in St. Johns, Arizona. She was active in the LDS church.

Matia was a school teacher for more than 30 years. She earned a B.A. degree from the University of Arizona and a master's degree from Brigham Young University. She published many poems and was a poet laureate of Tombstone one year.
