Myrtle M. Dean was born November 2, 1890, in Marcos, Colorado. She was the daughter of William McDonald and Sarah Jane Barker Devenport. She married Charles Edwin Dean in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on October 3, 1913. She was a member of the Felecia Club, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Colorado Cub, and League of Utah Writers. She had many short stories published in the Relief Society magazine and the Improvement Era.
