In her professional capacity Nancy R. Gunn has taught writing skills as Adjunct English Professor at BYU from September, 1993 through the present to Freshmen Academy students and advanced writing Social Science majors, including two one-year Visiting Instructor appointments when she taught introductory literature and literature writing classes. She taught introductory and advanced writing classes as Adjunct English Faculty at Salt Lake Community College from Sept. 1992- Sept. 1993. Gunn is a freelance writer and has published 14 non fiction food and craft articles and one children\'s story in local and national publications. She won 1st place in the Children\'s Story division of the 2002 League of Utah Writers Annual Contest, 1st place in the \"Who Lights the Y?\" Essay Contest in Oct. 1988, was a finalist in the 30th Annual National Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest in Feb. 1982, was a nominee for Utah Young Mother of the Year in April 1977, and was the sweepstakes winner in the Sewing/Home Economics division of the Salt Lake County Fair in August, 1975.
