Ruth Hale

Prominent LDS dramatist with Nathan Hale, her husband, with whom she owned and operated the Glendale Center Theater in Glendale, California. The two were also part owners of the Seagull Film Productions company. Born in Granger, Utah. First became interested in drama when she and her husband served as ward drama directors in Granger. First began writing together when, during the depression years, the ward budget could not afford a royalty for a play. This first play, "Handcart Trails," was published in the MIA Book of Plays for 1940. Together they have written many plays, some of which have been published through Samuel French. Their play Melody Jones was given a nation wide presentation on Kraft Television Theater in New York. She has served as MIA Division Drama Supervisor in Southern California.
