Von Allen is a sculptor who started by creating completely nondescript sculptures, although over time her work has come to include elements of an anatomical form although her work is still largely abstract.
Studied at Edinboro State College in Edinboro, Pennsylvania; she later earned her MFA in ceramics from Syracuse University in New York.
Von Allen was Associate Professor at Brigham Young University, Department of Art. She was also Head of the ceramics program. Her work was vertical and nonrepresentational images, though over time they evolved to include elements of anatomical form. She has been featured in many exhibits including the Women Artist of Utah exhibition in Springville, Utah.
