A girl watches her older sister, Meredith, marry young and have children right away. For a long time, her sister doesn't understand this. She wants to be independent and safe--she won't marry her boyfriend, Mitchell, until his job is secure. However, this girl soon sees that despite all of Meredith's hardships, she is happy. Finally the sister is able to admit that love is worth the risk.
