Fiction, Short Story
Marilyn lost her husband a few months ago and has been struggling to support her family. One night she is feeling sad and confused as to why she was given this trial, but then she remembers all the help her children and neighbors have given her. Later that week, Marilyn's children seek out their neighbors for help with a Mother's Day surprise. Their neighbors, the Allens, help them plant a vegetable garden because Marilyn won't have time to do so this year. On Mother's Day, Marilyn is able to feel the love of her children and her neighbors.
