Serena meets her neighbor, Jeff Landeau, and he agrees to help her out. While Serena is watering the garden, she meets a small Mexican man named Luis. Luis takes a liking to Serena and expresses his desire to work for her. She doesn't know what to do because she worries she can't afford to pay him.
