A girl and her family move to their aunt's farm over the summer to help her out. While they are there, the oldest daughter, Lavinia, falls in love with the man she is writing a book with. The whole family learns a lot more about farming, and they grow closer to each other throughout the summer. By the end of the summer, they are already making plans to return the next year.
