Helen and her friend, Lettie, are upset with the town gossip, May. May is always getting in people's business and skewing things that she hears. When May pesters Helen about a neighbor of hers and Helen refuses to talk, May alludes to skeletons in Helen's closet. Helen feels nervous after this even though she has nothing to hide.
