Rose is in deep despair when her family moves to an ugly, worn-down house. She worries that her kids won't make any friends because of where they live. When they get home from school, however, they have all made lots of new friends. Rose's husband assures her that he will starting fixing up their house, and she is comforted to know that things are looking up.
