Novel about the life of Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, considered to be the father of homeopathy. Set in the 18th century in Heidelberg. Hahnemann realizes his boyhood dream of studying medicine and becoming a doctor, but soon rejects many of the conventional ideas and treatments of the time, speaking out critically against the malpractices of his profession. As if the animosity this provokes among his colleages were not enough, he is also pursued by members of a secret lodge, the Gorgon Order, who believe that he possesses writings by Paracelsus that were considered lost.
