Fiction, Short Story
A couple and their young daughter have barely enough food for winter. On Thanksgiving day, the father manages to trade for a squash to add variety to their diet for the holiday, but the meal is interrupted when Native Americans come demanding food. The family laments having to share their meager food, but the Native Americans return later that night with a freshly killed deer for the family.
