Mary Ann and Kim Freeman are adjusting to life caring for Kim's father, who is living with them while he recovers from hip surgery. Their children, Rosemary and Tommy, have accepted more responsibility in order to help relieve their parents' financial burdens, but money is still tight for the family. Despite these difficulties, the family celebrates the joyful occasion of Rosemary's wedding, and Tommy begins to court a young woman who has caught his eye.
