Shortly before her mother's death, a daughter promises to delay marriage in order to take care of the younger children. The daughter's fiance, angry at the idea of postponing their wedding, breaks off the engagement. The daughter is heartbroken but remains true to her promise to her mother, eventually finding that greater blessings were in store for her all along.
