Salt Lake City, Utah: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mutual Improvement Association, February 1919
Poetry
The narrator sees a crowd going to the funeral of Old Jacob Peterson. Jacob Peterson was born in Norway to a poor family, and he learned the value of work. He learned about the gospel and joined the Church. He wanted to travel to Utah, but his daughter and wife both died before he made it there. He wasn't special or successful by the world's standards, but he was dutiful, faithful, and a hero by God's standards.
