Pancha Loca

R. A. Christmas

Stanford, California: Dialogue Foundation, Spring 1992

  • R. A. Christmas: Author
Fiction, Short Story
Pancha has spent her life struggling to feel like she is enough for the people she loves. She would like nothing more than to please her father, who barely acknowledges her existence except to criticize her. She has lost the love of her husband, who treats her indifferently and, she suspects, only stays with her because of the children. Due to the pressures of her life and the expectations of those around her, Pancha previously ended up in a mental hospital and lost six months of her life. Now, after a visit to her parents' house pushes her to her breaking point, she contemplates following her doctor's advice and separating herself from all of them for good.
