Nina feels lonely and lost after the nephew she raised moves away and she loses her job at the hospital. Her widower landlord asks her to take care of his son. Initially she’s reluctant, as the child is silent and reserved, and she believes it will be too hard to help him. However, she begins to care for him and her love helps him come out of his shell and play like a child should. Eventually, his father comes and builds a relationship with his son, eventually taking him away on a trip to England. Once again, she feels lonely and alone, and her doctor friend wonders if caring for others is worth the pain of losing them. She says it is, and the doctor recognizes her incredible ability to help people love again.
