Julie has been attending college in California, but when a telegraph informs her of a family emergency, she and her friend, Betz, set out immediately for Australia. They learn that Julie’s fiance, Ron, has gone missing. A group of family members all go out to the bush to search for him. While there, Ron’s dog, is anxious and won’t settle down. Julie and her aunt realize that the dog is trying to tell them something, and follow him out into the bush. He leads them to a pitfall zone, and they discover that Ron has fallen into one of the holes and is stuck. Julie stays with him as her aunt goes for help. Both Ron and Julie are very sick and injured after the experience, but they both make it through and determine to marry immediately.
