Fiction, Short Story
Freck Monson grew up as the town rascal. He was constantly causing trouble and eventually ended up in prison. However, after he got out of prison, he changed for the better. Freck worked to build a better name for himself, but nobody trusted that he'd changed except Jean. Jean and Freck started to date, but after hearing how disappointed Jean's father was in him, Freck enlisted for the war. Freck earned a medal in the war but died doing so. Following his death, the town finally saw him for who he really was.
