This story parodies Latter-day Saint folktales. It tells the story of Old Cedarbloom, one of the first pioneers to enter the Salt Lake Valley, and the tree he discovers that miraculously blossoms every night. He finds himself unable to speak to anyone about the tree except his wife and his grandson, who is charged with watering the tree after Old Cedarbloom dies. But the grandson doesn't recognize the secrecy of his task, and the tree becomes a tourist attraction that soon dies from lack of proper care.
